Her four children and several of the grandchildren were assembled here already to celebrate Mother's 101st birthday and so were all here when she died so shortly afterward. It is never easy, but she went down hill so fast after her birthday and was so helpless. She hated being that way, and there was nothing we could do for her except be here. She and we are so fortunate that she was relatively independent and mentally alert with sense of humor and personality for 101 years and the end was so relatively short. Now she is at peace and without pain.

The following appeared on the Find A Grave website by an unknown author.

Frances Willett Hewins Giesecke, daughter of Samuel Nathaniel Willett and Bell Sinton Willett died on Cape Cod after her family had gathered to celebrate her 101th birthday. She was independent and mentally alert with sense of humor up until the end.

Frances was educated as a Physical Education Teacher at Colorado State Teachers College at Greeley [but never taught as she married before graduation, though she finished and graduated while her husband was at sea. jhj]. She married Spencer Foster Hewins who served in the US Coast Guard. Some years after Spencer's death in 1972, she married a college classmate Albert S. Giesecke who was an award-winning artist known for his portraits, landscapes and still lifes in oil, pastel and watercolor. Albert died in 1998. She is survived by her four children, Martha Bell (Hewins) Parker, Frances Joy (Hewins) Jones, Charlotte Elizabeth "Beth" (Hewins) Bryson and Lyman Willett Hewins. After a memorial ceremony, her ashes were buried with her first husbands at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
